If you use Medflight you have determined that a patient need to be evaluated by a trauma team that is usually in a Level 1 truama center (i.e Holston Valley and JCMC around here) There they will have trauma and nerological service that hospitals around here dont have. Actually I dont think NCH even has a level. Kind of scary that if you have a bad wreak in weather that does not premit the helicopter flying you will most likely die if you need neurological services or anti-hermorage surgery that are only avalable in the tri-cities.

I've never heard of anyone being med-flighted to Norton. I don't know what freakish events would make medflight stop there instead of making the trip to the Tri-Cities. Even if a patient codes on the way, don't they work on them until they get to the trauma center? I just can't see going to Norton for that type of thing. Mechanical problems with the helicopter and aborting a planned trip to the Tri-Cities would be the only reason I could see going to Norton instead.

Could have been due to lack of visibility from the kid who tried to catch the school and woods on fire around the school! The high school area was nothing but smoke for an hour.

Is the boy who started the fire going to be charged? I heard that some of the kids who stay after school tried to put it out.

I think so. It looked pretty bad from over at the baseball field. When the wind kicked up, the smoke was terrible. Someone said at one point, the fire was halfway up the trees. Students were getting rakes and shovels trying to tput it out. FInally the Fire Dept got there.

The boy wasn't trying to set the woods or school on fire...I think It was an accident...Not sure about the knife and keys and stuff I haven't heard anything about that...

One of my friends called me this morning to tell me about all this. Her son was one of the boys trying to put it out. She said they had to run through the fire to get to the creek to try and get water to put it out. She was very upset that he took a risk like that. Those boys trying to put the fire out could have been hurt very badly. To think of teenage boys taking a risk like that is scary.

Seems like there has been alot of stuff going on. Someone was telling me that while they were in in Fielder's Choice the other day a kid tried to steal something and Rocky grabbed him and he took off running. They said he had drugs on him and tried to get rid of it when Rocky and his brother were chasing him. They said that as he was being arrested Rocky was standing beside him and saying "If (gasp) You (gasp) Ever come in (gasp) my store again (gasp, gasp..). Can you see Rocky trying to apprehend a thief? He was trying to steal some shoes. They said that one boy had a joint behind one ear and a cigarette behind the other and was in there asking Rocky something about some shoes he wanted him to order and while he was doing that another was putting something under his shirt or something like that and the guy telling me the story said, "Hey, I think that guy has soemthing under his shirt"- that's when Rocky went to grab him and the chase began.

I guess I was told a different story....I was told he got some toilet paper or something out of his pocket and then lit the toilet paper and then picked up a stick and set it on fire and said "Watch this"...

boy you hear everything don't ya? who knows what really happened but I bet the fact that he started it accidently or not, it will be investigated. This version came from one of the boys who was supposedly there and tried to put out the fire...so I don't know...

I hope it wasn't intentional...still couldn't the boy's family be charged for any expenses incurred while the fire dept's services were being used? accident or not???
